La 2 L.A. 🌴

This past week I went to Los Angeles, California to visit my best friend Morgan. Morgan and I made the dance team together in 11th grade and been friends since. Her parents and my parents are from the same hometown and know each other very well so they basically forced us to be friends (Thats how we tell the story anyway). My girl is a singer/songwriter/actress/model and up-and-coming Youtube star. Her and her sister recently moved to L.A. to attend AMDA, a performing arts school, and further their careers. I'm super proud of her for taking this leap of faith and mastering her craft. Prior to Morgan moving to Cali, I had no real desire to go. But now I had a reason so why not. We did a lot of fun stuff. I got there Wednesday at midnight so we just chilled and caught up.

The next day we went to get brunch from this boujee waffle house called "The Waffle". The food was nice. I got my a lil red velvet waffle. Then we rode our bikes down Hollywood which was really cool because they were actually setting up the red carpet for Denzel Washington to receive the American Film Institute Achievement Award. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see Denzel. We went to the different boutiques down Melrose including Sorella which was something I had been looking forward to because I've been a fan of Heather Sanders for sometime now.

Friday we went to this contemporary art museum called The Broad. If you know me, you know I love museums particularly art museums and interactive museums. Friday was my first time going to a weed dispensary. You really thought I was going to go all the way to Cali and not go? Come on now. It was not what I expected. The front was kind of set up like a doctors office waiting area with the receptionist desk behind the glass and they had to check your I.D. because you can only enter if you're 21 and older or 18 with a prescription. There was a lot of different strands of weed and cones and edibles and backwoods and even bath bombs?? It was a unique experience. Later that night we went out. My first night out in L.A. We went to this club called Le Jardin. It was a cute outdoor club. We had a section and a bottle (Courvoisier VSOP=disgusting...but we drank it.) And we were lit...maybe a little too lit but that's another story for another day and I'll let Morgan tell it. Maybe I'll even post a few clips to instasnap one day.

Saturday Morgan and I went to grab brunch again but this time at this place called "Met Her At A Bar" which apparently had a really cute meaning behind the name but I didn't get a chance to read it on the back of the menu because I was to busy reading the front because I was starving. And chile, the food was amazing. Highkey the highlight of my trip in all honesty. After brunch we went to another museum called LACMA, also very nice and huge. This one had 6 different buildings that we did not get to look at. We came on a perfect day because they had a little Latin concert going on in the courtyard area of the museum. It was a whole vibe, y'all. Families were out with their children and dogs having picnics and drinking wine and being merry. It was so perfect. Saturday night, Morgan cooked and we just chilled and stayed in and watched Netflix.

Sunday we had brunch at the crib compliments to the chef (Morgan). Then we went to this day party which apparently is common in L.A. on Sundays. It's also pride month for those who weren't aware and this particular weekend was pride weekend in L.A. and they just had a big parade and the club was on the same street as the parade so there was a lot of people out roaming freely, chillin', having a great time. The day party started off kind of dead but ended up being really fun.

Monday we went to Venice Beach! Ok so I always hear good things about Cali weather but really...it's not all that. When the sun's out its HOT and if it's not out its FREEZING. I don't get it. Monday was the last day we could go to the beach before it was time for me to go home so we were determined. When we first got out there it was kind of cold and cloudy but the sun eventually came out and we were happy. Later we went to In and Out Burger-a mess. It was a regular degular burger and the fries tasted like cardboard. Since it was my last night, we decided to stay in and watch movies again and drink wine. We watched that new movie "Perfection" on Netflix. If you know me, I am a very tough movie critic and that movie was CRAZY. I wasn't a fan of it at all.

Tuesday I did some last minute souvenir shopping for my love ones. It was also "Taco Tuesday" so Morgan and I participated in that with maybe a margarita or two. She took me to the airport and I was on my way.

This is the condensed version of my trip. I originally wanted to do a vlog but I suck at recording enough footage because I'm too busy living in the moment and enjoying myself. If you follow me on instagram (and especially snapchat) then you got a little taste. All in all, Cali was a vibe. It seemed like everyone was on vacation, you know? The atmosphere was something I never experienced before. Compared to Baton Rouge, it seems like there is way more stuff to do and better opportunities. Seeing places like Netflix, CBS, Universal Studios, Viacom, etc. all in the same area was kind of like "Oh wow. There is where the magic happens." My intentions were to job hunt on this trip, too. I actually wanted to go to all of those places I named and search for a job and modeling agencies but I decided not to because I wanted to treat this like a vacation. Like, OH MY GOD I need a break from being so serious all the time and school and life for just like one second, PLEASE. This trip was a breath of fresh air and I needed that.

And I also want to just take a moment and applaud myself for planning this trip on my own, financing this trip on my own and flying by myself for the first time. Really felt like I was on my grown woman $#!+.

IN CONCLUSION: I will most definitely be back. I did not want to come home. I know what to do next time, what places I missed that I want to go visit, network better and be prepared to land a job and/or get signed to an agency. Is California a potential living place for me? Hmm, it's too close to call but it's definitely a great vacation spot.

Below are some pictures that I have that I probably won‘t post to social media but I’ll leave here for your enjoyment.
